English Literature, Virginia Woolf and Insanity.

Aujourd'hui, quelques petites quotes de mon cours de littérature anglaise:

- Virginia Woolf wrote The Waves. If you like poetry, you can have a go for it, but if not... Let's say just wait of few more years before reading it.

- She published her first novel in 1915 The Voyage Out. During 398 pages, you follow a person on a boat, and on the 399 page, she dies.

- It was an attempt as women’s philosophy: women can think. (And I can tell you it’s not easy when they think).

- Woolf was a woman of contradictions. For example, she didn’t want to see Paul Valery when she met him because she didn’t have the right stockings. She was very impressed by Tolstoï and she hated Proust because she thought he had written everything before her.
